Tour 3 – day 10 heading into the Landmannalaugar region stunning views and clear skies
We headed to the docks to meet Andrew and the first group stopping to look at the viking ship on the way. Once we were altogether we headed out of Reykjavik towards Hveragerdi picking up cooking gas along the way. Within Hveragerdi we stop at a Bakery amazing, there we highlight the maps with the route for the day, as well as have a shaking experience in the earthquake experience. Shopping takes plce food + goodies needed for 3 days. Off to the campsite at Arnes, tomorrow we head into the interior. After putting the tents up we head out to see some sights. Haifoss (High Falls) a waterfall that drops 122m and next to it is a waterfall called granni. We drop into an oasis Gjain, before visiting the last waterfall of the day Hjalparfoss.
Another stunning day – ending in a canyon some of you will recognise, with a lava tube + bbq area still candle lit but snow in the entrance. Poor signal tonight so will add photographs from today tomorrow.
😂 View from our window this morning.
We are heading around a few tracks near pingvellir before heading to the docks to drop off the green truck by 3 pm.
Interesting day through a couple of interesting routes, then to the docks to drop off the truck, finally at the airport ready for the flight tomorrow.
Well what a day, fjord, fjord oh and more fjords. Within one fjord we can across a colonie of seals, then whilst watching the seals we saw 4 humpback whales amazing. We travelled down a lovely 4×4 valley route then finally we left the western fjords. Headed back towards Rekjavik, staying in Bogarnes in a hotel over looking the mountains and a wonderful hot tub.

Geirþjófsfjörður, Dynjandi; the largest waterfall in the western fjords then on to our destination for the evening Ísafjörður.

Arrived a little later than usual short delay at Luton. After a short stop and to put some temporary headlights on the defender, as the headlights are playing up a bit on the old truck,
we head off. The weather is -1 degrees C no wind and sunny.
First stop bakery and an order of soup.
Heading north and west now.
Finally in a lovely hotel room, just heading towards the west, we have seen some amazing scenery along the way here are some of the sights we have seen.
Not long now until our trip to the west of Iceland – we will be arriving in Iceland on the 26th October and will hopefully update the blog with our travels, and not forgetting the photographs. We do not have any clients with us we are just going for a trip to investigate the north west for ourselves.
Next blog – starts mid October final dates to be printed later.
