Tours:

Remember if you are interested in joining our exciting summer adventures you need to book early.

This was a coffee stop at the volcano huts with an interesting river crossing to get there.  Everyone was given full instruction before we got to do the crossing.

DAY 14 – FERRY 19TH AUGUST 2015

🙁 the summer is coming to an end, the final trip to Seyðisfjörður beautiful little town on the eastern fjords.  We have stunning views of the eastern fjords as the sky is blue and the sun is shining.  We have a stop and a photo opportunity along the mountain pass before we head to Egilsstaðir for lunch.  Then we head down to Seyðisfjörður to find our camping spot before the masses arrive later.  Lovely late afternoon sitting in the sun.  Finally we all catch the ferry home in the morning.

DAY 11 – FERRY 16TH AUGUST 2015

Sightseeing day a bit on the bus off the bus, coffee stop at the volcano huts with an interesting water-crossing, mind you we have done 16 water-crossings to get to the interesting one.  The photographs were taken on the way back after the coffee break.

Just testing the landrovers for leaks 🙂 happy to report there were none.

Waterfalls seen, crashed dakota and even some puffins – the sky is blue and the sun is shining and it is warm.

DAY 10 – FERRY 15TH AUGUST 2015

Rain rain and more rain…   river crossings high, puddles on mass lots and lots of water around.  Warnings of rivers becoming critical.  Landmannalaugar  is a washout having just driven in this morning.  People are being advised not to do the route to Porsmork for a few days as the rivers are high and fresh snow fall along the route but the busses are here still on mass.  We looked at one of our river crossings and changed the route for safety reasons.

We are heading to the south through the interior to Seljalandsfoss.

DAY 9 – FERRY 14TH AUGUST 2015

Woke this morning to some blue sky and no rain.  First stop the beautiful lava tube with its stalagmites of icicles, then a coffee stop at the bakery, before heading back into the interior.  A couple of waterfalls on route then the crater lakes.

Again the morning and early afternoon started lovely

– but then the rain came down – heavy weather warning in the south and south east and the interior is no better – lots and lots of puddles and the rivers are very high.  We arrived at the crater lakes and the rain was so heavy we decided to press on to another campsite rather than arrive early and sit around in the rain.

A few vehicles were stranded in the water – going through water-crossings too fast and a bus that took the wrong turn.

DAY 14 – BESPOKE — DAY 8 – FERRY 13TH AUGUST 2015

The weather started so promising at Geysir, but soon changed when we got to Pingvellir and the rain came down horizontal and windy.

ssm_K3A3395

Today is all about tectonic plates, Pingvellir is this mornings tour where the eurasian plate and the north american plate are moving apart 2cm per year (mid-atlantic ridge).  Pingvellir was also the place for the first parliament in year 930.  Lunch at the bakery then shopping for food for a couple of days as we are back into the interior tomorrow.  Relaxing afternoon with an earthquake experience and our bespoke team back to the airport.  Steak house in the evening.
