Solhiem glacier today – lots of rain today very wet.
on route to gullfoss
Another beautiful day:
Hjörleifshöfði is a 221 meter high headland made of tuff. For a long time after the last ice age it was an island but by the time of the settlement it was an isthmus on the side of a fjord. Now it lies more than two kilometers from the sea.
Heading towards Skaftafell we look over the Laki lava fields towards Vatnjokull.
beautiful waterfalls interesting glaciers
Another sunny day, very little wind.
We head to Seljalandsfoss waterfall and a short walk behind the waterfall.
Then into Gljufrabui
We headed into Porsmork to gigjokull
after seeing gigjokull we then visited the Eyjafjallajokull Centre
finally heading to Reynisdrangar beach before heading to the hotel.
After a stunning aurora show last night we wake to sunshine, and very little wind. We head off pick up the vehicle and head towards Krysuvik- seltun. The geothermal area Krýsuvík is situated on the Reykjanes peninsula. First we stop for a look at kleifarvatn lake.
We then headed towards Hvergerdi for a lunch stop at the bakery, then into the lava tube and the city of icicles.
We then journey on to Skogafoss waterfall for the night. We had another wonderful northern light show.
Clients arriving at 17:20 – disaster starts the day
The defender is over heating, the thermostat does not seem to be working, after a change and more water being put in we only go a short way and the engine over heats again. We leave the defender at a garage in Reykjavik and go to the airport. We hire another vehicle from the company we work closely with – but we have turned to the dark side and having to drive a toyota land cruiser for a week.
The sun is shining and the temperature is lovely very little wind, we are all at the hotel heading for a meal at 19:30 then we can head out for a northern light hunt as the prediction is high.
