Herðubreið is a tuya and also the queen of Icelandic volcanoes.  The mountain is considered by many Icelanders to be the most beautiful mountain in the country.  Herðubreið rises 1677 meter up from Ódáðahraun lava desert.

Day 5 – Iceland +

Tuesday
southern route F910 very interesting drive and some technical challenges but a little sad as there was no water on the sand flats. Just stopped for lunch at the new lava field. The middle of nowhere and we have a signal so caught up with the blog for the last couple of days.

The 2014–2015 eruption of Bárðarbunga was an eruption in the Bárðarbunga volcanic system in Iceland, that began on August 29, 2014 and ended on February 27, 2015. We head towards death canyon named by Clive last year for our camp.

Day 4 – Iceland +

Monday
Exploring near the vatnajokull glacier, visiting MANI driving over lava fields and a lot of sand today, finally travelling up the worst road in Iceland the F26 full of corrigation so we can camp at the campsite near to the F910 so we can venture along the southern route so we reach the sand flats at a reasonable time. By the time we reach Nyidalur campsite it is low cloud and light rain but very cold with the wind.

Day 2 – Iceland +

After our long wait at Eimskip yesterday, and a shop for 6 days our planned camp was not possible so we headed for a jumping off campsite at Arnes, basic but then meant we had a good start on the day.
We headed through the interior exploring tracks within the Landmannalauger region, mixture of well maintained tracks and some washed out rocky tracks that offered some challenge.
Coffee stop at Krakatindur then on to a hut for lunch. Stunning scenery all the way of Eyjafjallajokull and Myrdalsjokull.

Completed the day with 52 water crossing defined by all 4 wheels in and must be flowing.
